With the global modest fashion industry projected to surpass $375 billion by 2025, Bangladesh, one of the world’s largest garment manufacturers, has a significant opportunity to expand its footprint in the halal fashion segment. The seminar provided a strategic platform to discuss how Bangladesh can position itself as a leading supplier of halal-certified modest fashion garments, including abayas, hijabs, tunics, and Islamic wear.

Distinguished guests included: a) Anis Wajdi Bin Mohd Yousuf, Counsellor of the High Commission of Malaysia to Bangladesh (Chief Guest), b) Rozaimee Abdullah, First Secretary of the High Commission of Brunei Darussalam to Bangladesh (Special Guests), c) Representatives from the Embassy of Algeria to Bangladesh, d) Syed Moazzam Hossain, President of the Australia-Bangladesh Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ABCCI), e) Enamul Haque Patwary, Director, Dhaka Chamber of Commerce and Industry (DCCI). Speaking at the event as the Keynote presenter, Md. Mamunur Rahman, Founder & CEO of EXPOPRO, stated: “The modest fashion industry is experiencing exponential growth worldwide, and Bangladesh is in a prime position to become a global hub for halal-certified apparel. Recognized as the world’s largest halal exhibition, MIHAS 2025 will bring together industry leaders, policymakers, entrepreneurs, and innovators from diverse sectors, including food & beverages, modest fashion, pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, Islamic finance, and digital solutions. The seminar highlighted MIHAS as a strategic gateway for Bangladeshi businesses to expand their footprint in the global halal market, offering unparalleled opportunities for networking, business matchmaking, and showcasing Bangladesh’s capabilities in halal-certified apparel and other industries to an international audience.







Successful Roundtable Discussion by EXPOPRO Highlights the Potentials of Halal Tourism in Bangladesh
Dhaka, Bangladesh – March 20, 2024: As the global Halal economy grows in influence and scale, Bangladesh has taken a significant step toward positioning itself within this emerging sector. In a pioneering effort to explore the untapped potential of Halal tourism, EXPOPRO – the Center for Business Development and Communications – organized a high-level roundtable discussion titled “Halal in Tourism: Prospects and Opportunities for Bangladesh.”
The event, held in the capital city of Dhaka, was hosted in collaboration with the Bangladesh Halal Development Forum (BHDF) and supported by Stryke.com.bd. It brought together a distinguished assembly of government officials, industry leaders, diplomats, and Halal economy stakeholders for a candid dialogue on how Bangladesh can strategically align with the global Halal tourism movement.
The roundtable was graced by Her Excellency Haznah Md. Hashim, High Commissioner of Malaysia to Bangladesh, as the Chief Guest. Her presence symbolized the strong bilateral ties between Bangladesh and Malaysia and acknowledged Malaysia’s global leadership in Halal tourism development. Speaking at the event, she emphasized the immense opportunities for cooperation and knowledge sharing between the two nations.
Also present as Special Guest was Md. Rais Hasan Sarowar, NDC, Director General of the Regional Organizations Wing at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. He expressed the government’s interest in integrating Halal tourism into the broader national tourism and development policy framework. He underscored Bangladesh’s potential to attract Muslim tourists from OIC member states and beyond, given its rich cultural heritage and Islamic history.
The session was moderated by Md Mamunur Rahman, Founder and CEO of EXPOPRO, who also delivered the keynote presentation. In his address, he highlighted the immense potential of the Halal tourism sector, pointing to the growing demand for faith-based travel experiences, Halal-certified hospitality, and culturally sensitive services. He urged stakeholders to consider infrastructure readiness, certification standards, and branding as critical components of a Halal tourism roadmap for Bangladesh.

Shiblul Azam Koreshi, President of the Tour Operators Association of Bangladesh (TOAB), called for dedicated tour packages tailored to the Muslim travel segment.

Salauddin Yousuf, Chairman of the FBCCI Standing Committee on Halal Foods, spoke about the need for synergy between the food and tourism sectors to deliver a comprehensive Halal experience.
The program concluded with Enamul Haque Patwary, Convenor of BHDF, offering concluding remarks and a vote of thanks, stressing the need for a multi-stakeholder approach and sustained dialogue to build momentum in the sector.
Following the formal proceedings, guests were invited to a warm Iftar and dinner, fostering a sense of community and shared purpose.
The networking session also allowed participants to explore future collaborations and initiatives. This roundtable marked a key milestone in Bangladesh’s evolving engagement with the global Halal ecosystem. As the Halal travel market continues to expand – projected to exceed USD 300 billion by 2026 – Bangladesh now stands at a strategic juncture, with the opportunity to position itself as a competitive and culturally rich destination for Halal-conscious travelers across the Muslim world.
